Anglo-American axis pushing Germany towards military confrontation with US, says expert

Tiberio Graziani noted that the ultimate and main beneficiary of the ongoing confrontation between the West and Russia was the United States

ROME, January 26. /TASS/. The United States and its closest allies are interested in turning the heat up on Germany’s confrontation with Russia and in weakening the EU, President of the International Institute for Global Analysis Vision & Global Trends, Tiberio Graziani, said on Thursday.

"The dispatch of German tanks represents just more blatant interference by the United States in the German government’s decisions. With that in mind, the drive to push Germany into military confrontation with Russia is one of the aims of Anglo-American geopolitics," the expert stressed. In his opinion, the move to supply tanks by Germany and the United States demonstrated that the conflict was essentially governed by Washington and, in a subordinate fashion, by NATO.

"The Europeans are simply following Washington's instructions. They no longer have an independent policy of their own. Sending weapons and other military hardware can crank up the level of the conflict with even more dramatic and alarming consequences not only concerning the regional balance, but on a worldwide scale as well," Graziani believes.

He noted that the ultimate and main beneficiary of the ongoing confrontation between the West and Russia was the United States.

"In this frame of reference, EU member states are the real losers. Washington and London have achieved vital goals: they have driven a wedge of alienation between Moscow and the Europeans, while weakening the German economy and stripping the EU of the right to vote," Graziani stressed.

On Wednesday, US officials announced their intention to dispatch 31 M1 Abrams tanks to Kiev. In turn, the German government confirmed that it would send 14 Leopard 2 tanks from the Bundeswehr reserves to Ukraine, and issue re-export permits to other countries. On Wednesday, the defense ministries of Norway and Slovakia also announced their intention to transfer tanks to Ukraine.

Most local analysts agree that, given the relatively small overall number of tanks, as well as the timing of their delivery (by the end of the year), the decision is nothing but a gesture of support for the Zelensky regime.
