CSTO leaders agree to equip Peacekeeping Forces with cutting-edge weapons

This document is among 14 agreements inked at the CSTO summit in Yerevan on Wednesday

MOSCOW, November 23. /TASS/. Leaders of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states have decided to equip the CSTO Peacekeeping Forces with state-of-the-art weapons, military and special hardware, and special means, according to the list of documents published on the Kremlin’s website on Wednesday.

This document is among 14 agreements inked at the CSTO summit in Yerevan on Wednesday.

In addition, the summit approved agreements on joint radiation, chemical and biological protection and medical support systems of the CSTO, a regulation on the CSTO communications system, and a protocol decision on upgrading the CSTO crisis response system.

Some documents address organizational and personnel issues, such as the CSTO Secretary General, the terms of rotating presidency of the CSTO Collective Security Council, the chairman of the CSTO Interstate Commission for Military-Economic Cooperation, the CSTO congress and exhibition event, the presidency of the organization, and the timeframe and venue of the next session of the CSTO Collective Security Council.

One of the agreements focuses on cooperation between the CSTO and other organizations, with the intention of developing cooperation with the CIS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

The rest of the documents are related to the CSTO budget and the awards marking the 20th and 30th anniversaries of the CSTO.
