MINSK, October 26. /TASS/. The Belarusian Armed Forces have updated their approaches to troop management, the nation’s Chief of the General Staff Viktor Gulevich said on Wednesday.
"The past training year provided us with the opportunity to reconsider our approaches to troop training, which concern the management of troops, the deployment of command posts in various conditions, their protection and mobility. It was all worked out in the past year," the BelTA news agency quoted him as saying.
"A lot was done to reequip and upgrade our units, particularly in terms of various models of unmanned aerial vehicles, communication and surveillance means. All this allows our troops to monitor the situation on the battlefield, operate fire weapons and perform fire missions," Gulevich pointed out.
The Chief of the General Staff emphasized that the Armed Forces of Belarus were prepared for possible changes in the situation on the country’s border. "If we see any risks and challenges, we will immediately move our forces and units on duty, who are capable of promptly repelling a possible attack," he noted.
Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin earlier stated that the country’s Armed Forces conducted missions on the country’s southern border on a rotational basis and were ready to respond to possible provocations emanating from the western and southwest directions. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko pointed out that in the south, Ukraine had deployed up to 15,000 troops to the border area. Minsk has also repeatedly pointed to neighboring moves aimed at strengthening their national armed forces and NATO units in Poland and the Baltic states.
