Brazilian president sees BRICS as exemplary model for mutually beneficial cooperation

Jair Bolsonaro says that the countries need to choose our priorities responsibly and transparently

RIO DE JANEIRO, June 23. /TASS/. Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro considers the BRICS format (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) exemplary in terms of mutually beneficial cooperation among its member nations.

"For Brazil, BRICS is a model of cooperation based on the benefits of all parties and the international community as a whole. Therefore, we need to choose our priorities responsibly and transparently," the president said at the opening of an online BRICS summit on Thursday.

The leaders of five countries got together in an online format for the 14th summit of the BRICS group of nations in order to synchronize watches and agree on the future of the organization. Russian President Vladimir Putin takes part in the summit hosted by China and held via a video link-up.

The leaders are expected to discuss the current state and prospects for multifaceted cooperation within the framework of BRICS, focusing on cooperation on the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian fronts. The leaders are also expected to discuss key international and regional issues.
