Vasilyevka in Zaporozhye region comes under shelling by Ukrainian troops – authorities

According to a representative of the regional military-civilian administration, as a result of the shelling, power lines were damaged

SIMFEROPOL, June 18. /TASS/. The city of Vasilyevka in the Zaporozhye region came under shelling by Ukrainian troops, electricity transmission lines were damaged, a spokesman for the regional military civil administration told TASS on Friday.

"Another shelling attack was staged today. As a matter of fact, it was targeted against civilians and against the local authorities’ attempts at restoring normal life in the region. Electricity transmission line were damaged. By evening, they were partially restored by the military civil administration. Shell fragments caused damages to residential buildings and social infrastructure facilities," he said.

"Vasilyevka is located near the contact line and is controlled by the Russian army. That is why it comes under regular shelling attacks by Ukrainian troops, who target facilities, which are not linked with the Russian forces: schools, hospitals, dwelling quarter, social facilities," the spokesman added.

Member of the Zaporozhye region’s council of the military civil administration Vladimir Rogov said earlier that about 70% of the Zaporozhye region had been liberated, however the regional center, the city of Zaporozhye, home to nearly half of the region’s population, is still controlled by the Ukrainian army.
