BERLIN, April 19. /TASS/. Western countries will continue to provide financial and military support to Ukraine in light of a new phase of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said at a news conference on Tuesday.
He made the comments following a video call held by Western leaders. The leaders included presidents Joe Biden of the US, Emmanuel Macron of France, Andrzej Duda of Poland, Klaus Iohannis of Romania, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, European Council President Charles Michel, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
"It’s clear that we will continue to support Ukraine financially and militarily," Scholz stated. He said that Russia’s special military operation "moved to a new phase overnight."
"We have clear principles that everyone agreed with: Ukraine will continue to have our solidarity and support," the chancellor said.
