Over 60 international observers involved in presidential elections in South Ossetia

TSKHINVAL, April 9. /TASS/. The presidential elections in South Ossetia will be monitored by over 60 international observers, representing European, Latin American and Middle Eastern states, South Ossetian Central Election Commission Secretary Kristina Avlokhova told TASS Saturday.

"Over 60 people will observe. Some international observers have already arrived," the official said.

In particular, the elections will be observed by representatives of Austria, Venezuela, Italy, Russia, Syria, Abkhazia, Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Avlokhova said. The observation team from Russia includes State Duma and Federation Council lawmakers and Central Election Commission members

According to the republican legislation, each candidate may send their own observer to every voting station.

Over 20 foreign reporters have been accredited to report on the elections, the State Committee of Information and Press of South Ossetia told TASS, adding that most reporters come from Russia.
