SCO praised as one of today’s most attractive global organizations

The reason is basically because the values the organization upholds and embodies are about the norms of life enshrined by the SCO family, SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming noted

BEIJING, March 24. /TASS/. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is one of today’s most attractive international organizations thanks to its enshrined values, SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming said in an interview with TASS.

"During the course of my numerous visits and considerable contacts with various parties since I have assumed the post of [SCO] secretary general, many countries have expressed their unwavering readiness to me either to join ‘the Shanghai family’ or to upgrade their status within the organization," he said.

"That opened my eyes to the far-reaching scale of acknowledgment gained by the SCO due to its aims and principles," the organization’s chief continued.

"The ‘Shanghai Spirit’ [the concept of international relations on which cooperation within the SCO is based] complies with the general expectations of all parties, and so the SCO today is one of the most attractive international organizations," Zhang Ming emphasized.

The reason why the SCO is so attractive to all parties, he continued, "is basically because the values it upholds and embodies - equality, mutual respect and the recognition of relevant political and economic systems - are not about the castles in the air, but about the norms of life enshrined by the SCO family."
