Polish secret services demand that Foreign Affairs Ministry expel 45 Russian diplomats

It was claimed that those were persons who worked under diplomatic status, but actually conducted intelligence activities against Poland,

WARSAW, March 23. /TASS/. Poland's secret services prepared and handed over to the country's Foreign Ministry a list of 45 Russian diplomats who are accused by Warsaw of intelligence activities, Poland’s Minister-Special Services’ press secretary Stanislaw Zaryn said at a briefing on Wednesday.

"The Internal Security Agency has prepared a list of 45 people working in Poland under so-called diplomatic cover. These are persons who work under diplomatic status, but actually conduct intelligence activities against Poland," he claims.

According to Zaryn, "the list that has been handed over to the Foreign Ministry includes employees of the Russian secret services, as well as persons who cooperate with them." "The head of the Internal Security Agency, while submitting this list to the Polish Foreign Ministry, simultaneously suggested their urgent expulsion from Poland," the representative of the secret services added. According to him, the activities of these persons violate Polish laws and contradict the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

"The list was sent to the Foreign Ministry by the head of the Internal Security Agency yesterday. We are waiting for information from the Foreign Ministry," Zaryn added. When asked whether the Russian ambassador could be expelled, the secret services spokesman said he had no such information.

According to the Russian Embassy in Warsaw website, the Russian diplomatic staff in the country currently consists of about 60 people.

Previously, the Russian side has repeatedly denied such accusations, drawing attention to the fact that these allegations are unsubstantiated.
