MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. Russian freestyle wrestlers brought joy to all sports fans with their performance at the UWW Senior World Championships, Russian Wrestling Federation Mikhail Mamiashvili told TASS.
On Tuesday, freestyle wrestling championship ended at the World Championships in Norway’s Oslo. Russian athletes in all ten weight categories scored a total of 173 points and secured won in the team rankings. Gold medals were taken by Abasgadzhi Magomedov, Zagir Shakhiyev and Abdulrashid Sadulev. Magomed Kurbanov won silver, while Yevgheny Zherbayev, Timur Bizhoev, Radik Valiyev and Artur Nayfonov won bronze.
"Abdulrashid Sadulaev ended the championship on a victorious note, giving us the first place in the team rankings. That considering that it was mostly debutantes performing in Oslo. The minister has already congratulated the athletes," Mamiashvili said.
"It is nice to have two new world champions, I congratulate them sincerely, they displayed simply flawless wrestling. I would like to note that 65 kg is an Olympic weight category. […] They’ve done great, they brought joy to their relatives, close ones, compatriots all wrestling fans," he added.
The World Championships will end on October 10.
