MOSCOW, April 2. /TASS/. The enemy is attempting to wage an information war against Russia by recruiting young people, Tatyana Matveyeva, the head of the Kremlin's department for the development of information and communication technologies, said.
"One of the main risks we see now is information and psychological pressure, especially pressure on young people, on our children," she pointed out at the plenary session of the 5th Russian Internet Governance Forum.
According to Matveyeva, criminals are trying to identify "vulnerabilities" of young people. "Then they engage with them to manipulate their behavior, including coercing them into committing destructive actions, up to subversions. There are recruitment technologies," the Kremlin official explained. She recalled cases of bombings and arson attacks based on a tip-off, calling it an element of "information warfare."
Matveyeva pointed out that so far this work is being carried out by the enemy in a targeted manner. "But we are naturally concerned that this could become a widespread phenomenon," she added. "That's why the task is to develop digital immunity in the younger generation. There has to be a critical attitude towards the information that comes in. We need to teach children to think critically and understand which sources of information are correct and which are unreliable," the Kremlin official concluded.
