MOSCOW, March 14. /TASS/. A video wall display has been put into operation at the head office of the Russian Central Election Commission to enable the viewing of various polling stations across Russia during the upcoming presidential election, according to a TASS reporter.
The ceremony was attended by CEC Chairwoman Ella Pamfilova, her deputy Nikolay Bulayev, Russian Deputy Digital Development Minister Oleg Kachanov, and Rostelecom President Mikhail Oseyevsky.
"Video surveillance at each polling station will be carried out around the clock for the entire time that these polling stations will be open during voting, up to the point when ballot reports will be entered into State Automated System Elections," Pamfilova said.
She said video cameras are not to be installed at polling stations located in pre-trial detention centers, hospitals and some other types of polling stations, including stations abroad.
About 40,000 polling stations in 85 constituent regions of Russia will be equipped with video cameras during the upcoming presidential election. Trial video surveillance will be set up at territorial election commissions of the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics, the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
Access to the website with broadcasts from polling stations will be given to election commissions at all levels, representatives of registered candidates and parties that nominated registered candidates, observers from public chambers, the human rights commissioner, representatives of the Human Rights Council, and technical operators from the Digital Development Ministry. Voters will have the opportunity to watch the broadcasts in public observation centers.
