Pope Francis discharged after three days in hospital

He said that he had been unwell after a general audience on March 29 but was now back to normal

VATICAN, April 1. /TASS/. Pope Francis has been discharged from the hospital after a three-day treatment for infectious bronchitis, the Holy See announced on Saturday.

After leaving the hospital, the pope talked with a group of journalists and believers. He said that he had been unwell after a general audience on Wednesday but was now back to normal.

Pope Francis, 86, was taken to Rome's Gemelli hospital on Wednesday for what was said to be a routine examination. However, it turned out later that the pontiff’s breathing difficulties had raised concerns over his heart issues. Lab tests did not reveal any serious problem but doctors decided to treat the pope with antibiotics.
