Lukashenko offers condolences over death of Belarusian Foreign Minister Makei

MINSK, November 26. /TASS/. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has offered his sympathies on the passing of Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei, according to a message published on Saturday on the Telegram channel Pool One, which is close to the Belarusian leader’s press service.

"The president has offered his condolences to the family and friends of Vladimir Makei," the post reads.

Earlier in the day, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry informed about a sudden death of Minister Vladimir Makei.

Vladimir Makei was born in the Grodno Region on August 5, 1958. He graduated from the Minsk State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages. Makei worked at the Council of Europe and headed the European Cooperation Department of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry. In 2000-2008 he was an aide to the Belarusian president. He was appointed foreign minister in August 2012.
