Terror attack thwarted at youth forum in Zaporozhye Region

On Wednesday, a member of Russian intelligence reported that a terrorist plot in Berdyansk had been foiled

MELITOPOL, November 10. /TASS/. Members of a Ukrainian sabotage group plotted a terror attack during a youth forum in the Berdyansk district, but their plans were foiled since they were apprehended, a source in security structures told TASS on Thursday.

"Law enforcement of the Zaporozhye Region took measures to intercept the activity of two members of a Ukrainian sabotage group that plotted a terrorist attack in the Berdyansk district during the Zaporozhye Region’s first district educational youth forum "The Young South" from November 6 through November 9," the source said.

Alexey Savin, head of the regional administration’s security committee, told reporters that the saboteurs resisted arrest. "The militants were targeting young activists. Thanks to timely preventive measures, it was possible to apprehend the group of militants who were preparing a homemade explosive device with striking elements hidden in plastic canisters. The terrorists resisted arrest. This is not the first case of when a terror attack in the Zaporozhye Region was prevented," he stressed.

On Wednesday, a member of Russian intelligence reported that a terrorist plot in Berdyansk had been foiled. The perpetrators sought to destroy an electric substation and assassinate the city’s leadership. He specified that two members of the Azov and Right Sector extremist groups (outlawed in Russia) were detained. According to the official, the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry promised to pay them $1,000 each if they completed their mission successfully.
