Facebook appeals against $358,314 fine for not removing banned content

There were similar protocols in relation to Facebook, Google, and Telegram

MOSCOW, June 23. /TASS/. Representatives of Facebook appealed against the decision of the Tagansky District Magistrate's Court to fine the social network 26 mln rubles ($358,314) for refusing to delete prohibited information, press service of the Tagansky District Court told TASS.

"Facebook filed a complaint against the decision to find the social network guilty under eight administrative protocols under Part 2 of Article 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (refusal to remove prohibited information from the Internet), according to which it was fined 26 mln rubles in total," the court said.

Earlier, the court fined Google 6 mln rubles ($82,686) under the same administrative article.

In early April, the world court No. 422 of the Tagansky district of Moscow fined Twitter 8.9 mln rubles ($122,654) for refusing to delete information calling on minors to take part in unauthorized protests. Also, there were similar protocols in relation to Facebook, Google, and Telegram. In addition, TikTok was fined for a similar offense for 2.6 mln rubles ($35,831).
