Last Glonass-M satellite launched from northwest Russia’s Plesetsk on November 28

According to the center’s website, the Glonass satellite launched on November 28 is now in the process of being integrated into the system

MOSCOW, November 30. /TASS/. A Glonass navigational satellite was launched from the Plesetsk space center in northwestern Russia late on Monday, the Information and Analysis Center for Positioning, Navigation and Timing said on Wednesday.

According to the center’s website, the Glonass satellite launched on November 28 is now in the process of being integrated into the system.

Meanwhile, a space industry source told TASS that the only Glonass-M satellite remaining on the ground was orbited that day.

Future launches for Glonass will feature next-generation satellites.

The Glonass orbital constellation currently comprises 26 satellites, 22 of them are transmitting navigation signals. Two satellites are now being integrated into the system, one is in orbital reserve, and one is undergoing flight tests.

A Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket was last launched from Plesetsk at 18:17 on November 2. The spacecraft that it carried was orbited by the Fregat booster at the designated time. It was codenamed Cosmos-2564.
