Hurricane Ian did not affect preparation for Crew 5 launch — SpaceX

The rocket is at the launch pad already

NEW YORK, October 4. /TASS/. Hurricane Ian, a Category 4 hurricane that made a landfall in Florida last week, did not affect the condition of the Crew Dragon spacecraft and the Falcon 9 rocket, which will be used to deliver the Crew 5 mission with Russian cosmonaut Anna Kikina to the ISS, SpaceX representative Benjamin Reed said Monday.

According to the SpaceX representative, both the rocket and the spacecraft are fully intact, because the launch team was able to preserve them during the hurricane. The rocket is at the launch pad already, Reed said.

Reed also added that this Dragon spacecraft was used earlier to deliver and return the Crew 3 mission; the spacecraft was modified to incorporate the experience of the previous flight.

NASA expects the Crew Dragon to be launched atop the Falcon 9 rocket at noon October 5 (19:00 Moscow time). The launch was initially scheduled for October 3, but was postponed over due to the hurricane. The hurricane did not damage the launch pad.
