Kim Jong Un hails Russia's presidential election as symbol of unity, strength

The North Korean leader noted that the outcome of the voting reflects "the Russian people’s unshakable support for and trust in" Putin’s authority as president

TOKYO, March 18. /TASS/. Russia’s presidential election showed the people’s togetherness and desire for a strong country, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said in a congratulatory message to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"During this presidential election, the Russian people demonstrated, both inside the country and abroad, their will for further strengthening social and political unity around you and building a strong Russia," the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said, citing the message.

Apart from that, Kim noted that the outcome of the voting reflects "the Russian people’s unshakable support for and trust in" Putin’s authority as president.

Russia's presidential election was held on March 15-17. It was the first-ever three-day presidential poll, which also offered the option of online voting in about a third of the country’s regions. According to the Central Election Commission, incumbent head of state Vladimir Putin secured a landslide victory with 87.32% of the vote after 99.43% of all ballots counted.
