Medvedev notes unwavering trend toward destruction of Ukraine

According to the politician, "everything that is happening at the line of combat engagement and in the zone of the special military operation is the best proof of such trends"

MOSCOW, February 22. /TASS/. The specific scenarios of Ukraine’s destruction may vary but this will inevitably happen, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview with Russian media, including TASS.

Replying to a question as to which of his previously voiced scenarios of Ukraine’s disappearance current events will follow, he said: "So far, it is hard to say how it will all end up - with a slow erosion and the fall of power in Kiev or an instant collapse of the entire political system and a quick replacement of all main political figures. Yet this process is underway and, apparently, it cannot be stopped. And everything that is happening at the line of combat engagement and in the zone of the special military operation is the best proof of such trends," Medvedev said. "I don’t know how it will happen, but it will, without any doubt," he stressed.

Last May, the senior official wrote on his Telegram channel that the scenario of Ukraine’s disintegration will also determine the possibility of a renewed conflict in the future. The preservation of the Ukrainian state on part of the country’s current territory was among these scenarios, but Medvedev felt that the most likely scenario involved western Ukrainian regions joining certain EU countries, with the central and eastern regions acceding to Russia.

"Actually, not a single one of these options can be discarded so far. The important part is that the events are developing overall following the trend I wrote about," Medvedev stressed in the interview. He added that he will refrain from making more precise forecasts for now.
