MOSCOW, December 14. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin frequently sacrifices his sleep for the work schedule, which occurs during his foreign travel and trips inside Russia, Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the Izvestia television channel.
"Of course, he does not sleep enough both during his travel abroad and his trips around the country," the Kremlin spokesman said. "He very often sacrifices sleep for his work program."
According to Peskov, sometimes the Russian leader "has a few hours of sleep."
"When he is getting ready for such major events, of course, he has to sacrifice sleep. He does work on citizens’ requests and pays close attention to the topic of preparation," Peskov said, referring to the president’s preparation for his combined Direct Line Q&A session and year-end press conference.
The Kremlin spokesman pointed out that over the past few days, the Russian leader has spent 10 to 12 hours to sort out the blocs of themes that dominate the messages sent by Russian citizens.
"He has been working with ministers, with deputy prime ministers and with his aides. He has been preparing for what is taking place tomorrow," Peskov said.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the president would sum up the year’s results on December 14. The previous time the Q&A session was combined with the press conference was in 2020, as the pandemic disrupted plans to hold the two events separately as usual.
The president’s Direct Line question and answer session was last held in 2021. There have been 18 such standalone events. Since 2001, Putin has taken to live TV 15 times to answer the Russian public’s questions as president and four more as prime minister.
