Russia says Washington contradicts its own statements on biolaboratories in Ukraine

It was recalled that in January the Ukrainian government had endorsed new requirements to the procedure of handling biologically hazardous substances and organisms, with special attention being focused on international air shipments of highly-hazardous substances

MOSCOW, March 10. /TASS/. The US’ government contradicts its own statements on the work of its biological laboratories on Ukrainr’ territory, Chief of Russia’s Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Force Igor Kirillov told a briefing devoted to Washington’s military-biological activities on Friday.

"The US authorities contradict themselves in statements on the work of biological laboratories of the US in Ukraine," he said.

John Kirby, the Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the US’ National Security Council, has confirmed the presence of American biolaboratories in Ukraine, noting that they were suspended by staff members and "deactivated" before the onset of the military operation, Kirillov noted, adding that the papers received by the Russian Defense Ministry provided evidence of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency’s (DTRA) biological program in Ukraine being underway.

Kirillov recalled that in January the Ukrainian government had endorsed new requirements to the procedure of handling biologically hazardous substances and organisms, with special attention being focused on international air shipments of highly-hazardous substances. "In the standard templates for accompanying documents, only U.S. laboratories or companies are listed as recipients and shippers of hazardous biomaterials," he noted, adding that the Ukrainian authorities continue to cooperate with the Pentagon in the military-biological sphere under the pretext of reducing risks of the propagation of infections.

"Such activities may be carried out for launching provocations with dangerous pathogens with the subsequent imposition of responsibility on the Russian Federation," he stressed.
