GENICHESK, November 25. /TASS/. The number of residents of the Kherson Region’s Novaya Kakhovka who died as a result of massive Ukrainian mortar shelling of the town and the surrounding area has risen to six, the district administration reported on Friday.

"During November 25, six civilians were killed by Ukrainian mines in Novaya Kakhovka. <...> These are the largest civilian casualties in Novaya Kakhovka in all nine months", the message on the administration’s Telegram channel said.

Earlier, the city authorities reported that on Friday night Novaya Kakhovka was subjected to a massive mortar attack, which began at 9:30 p.m. Moscow time and continued until morning. The city center and residential buildings came under fire. Two people were reported dead and several civilians were wounded.

The administration noted that the shelling continued throughout the day, killing four more people. "Four more civilians were killed as a result of the day's shelling, the last of which was around 2 p.m.: two in the town and two in the village of Korsunka," the report said. The city administration added that two more private houses in the old part of the city were destroyed and two multi-story buildings were damaged.
