MELITOPOL, November 9. /TASS/. The capture of the dominant heights at the Vremevka protrusion significantly complicates the Ukrainian offensive on the Zaporozhye direction, says Vladimir Rogov, head of the "We are Together with Russia" movement.
"The capture of the heights makes the Ukrainian offensive much more difficult and problematic to implement, and it reinforces our positions a lot," he said.
Rogov called it an important positional success.
"This is an important achievement that we’ve got there, because this protrusion divides the Ukrainian group that operates on Ugledar and Zaporozhye directions, or, more precisely, on Pologi and Gulyaypole directions" he explained.
Earlier on Wednesday, Russian Joint Forces Group Commander Army General Sergey Surovikin said in his report to Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu that Russian forces pushed the enemy back and captured dominant heights deep behind the contact line near the Vremevka protrusion.
According to Rogov, Ukrainian forces were preparing an offensive on the Zaporozhye direction precisely on the territory "from settlements of Orekhov and Gulyaypole to the Vremevka protrusion area.".
