Red Cross ready to get Russian accreditation for operation in LPR — authorities

LUGANSK, October 7. /TASS/. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is ready to receive accreditation in Russia to be able to work in the Lugansk People's Republic, an adviser to the acting head of the republic, Anna Soroka, told TASS on Friday.

"International organizations operating in Lugansk have reacted with understanding to these requirements. The accreditation documents must be obtained in accordance with the procedures effective in Russia," she said. "The International Committee of the Red Cross expressed its readiness for the further work of its sub-delegation in the city of Lugansk, of Russia’s Lugansk People's Republic," Soroka said.

"In accordance with Russian legislation the accreditation of humanitarian missions is carried out by Russia’s Foreign Ministry," she noted.

Earlier, the LPR government’s interdepartmental commission for the accreditation of foreign non-commercial and international organizations and humanitarian missions in the LPR said it revoked the accreditation of the head of the Lugansk office of the International Committee of the Red Cross Miriam Favier. No reason for this decision was mentioned.
