Kiev fails to prevent death or repatriation of foreign mercenaries, says top brass

According to Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, the recent statements of Ukrainian authorities about almost 20,000 mercenaries fighting against the Russian Armed Forces are "simply lies"

MOSCOW, June 17. /TASS/. Increased payments to foreign mercenaries by the Kiev regime are not saving them from death or stopping them from returning to their home countries, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov said on Friday.

"Despite the Kiev regime's efforts and increased payments, the process of mercenaries dying or leaving for their countries of residence cannot be stopped by the Kiev leadership," he said.

According to him, the recent statements of Ukrainian authorities about almost 20,000 mercenaries fighting against the Russian Armed Forces are "simply lies".

As Konashenkov noted, this process aligns with the backdrop of a decreasing flow of mercenaries to Ukraine from outside. "Against the backdrop of the Kiev regime's increasing number of military failures and massive daily losses in manpower and equipment, the flow of foreign mercenaries to Ukraine has not only decreased, but is actually reversing," he pointed out.
