Russia says Ukraine prepares provocation near Kharkov involving shelling of power plant

Mizintsev said a destruction of the power plant will cause a power outage for the residents of the Kharkov, Poltava and Sumy regions and hundreds of life support facilities

MOSCOW, June 9. /TASS/. Mikhail Mizintsev, head of Russia’s National Defense Management Center, on Thursday said captured Ukrainian servicemen told about a plan by Ukrainian forces to shell Zmievskaya power plant.

He said nationalists are preparing a provocation to accuse the Russian armed forces of indiscriminate strikes on critical civilian infrastructure, citing the captured Ukrainian servicemen. "For its implementation, units of the armed forces of Ukraine have deployed an artillery battery in the Kharkov region with the assignment of shelling the Zmievskaya thermal and electric power plant," Mizintsev said.

He said a destruction of the power plant will cause a power outage for the residents of the Kharkov, Poltava and Sumy regions and hundreds of life support facilities.
