Crimea facing no threat despite its proximity to special operation zone, speaker assures

The Black Sea Fleet is at its bases, and enough troops have been deployed to guarantee security in the region, so "the peninsula is facing no threat," Vladimir Konstantinov said

SIMFEROPOL, May 20. /TASS/. The situation in Crimea remains safe and secure, and the peninsula is facing no threat, despite its proximity to the Ukrainian regions where the special military operation is going on, the Crimean parliament speaker said on Friday.

"Naturally, the situation in Crimea is safe," Crimean State Council (parliament) Chairman Vladimir Konstantinov said in an interview with TASS. "Now that the Kherson Region is under control of Russian troops, nothing dangerous can reach us by air, so we are relatively safe."

The Black Sea Fleet is at its bases, and enough troops have been deployed to guarantee security in the region, so "the peninsula is facing no threat," he added.

The speaker also recalled that some infrastructure got damaged at an early stage of the special operation, yet no one was injured in the incident.
