NIZHNY NOVGOROD, March 12. /TASS/. Firefighters have put out an open blaze that had engulfed an oil processing facility in an industrial zone in Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod Region, the regional government said in a statement.
The Kstovo oil refinery came under a drone attack on Tuesday morning; no one was hurt in the incident.
"The open blaze in the Kstovo industrial zone was put out at 10:57 a.m. Moscow time (7:57 a.m. GMT). Efforts continue to fully extinguish the fire," the statement reads.
Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Gleb Nikitin said earlier that the use of special equipment had made it possible to take prompt measures and evacuate the facility’s personnel. Experts from Russia’s consumer watchdog are now testing air samples taken in the nearby residential area.
The Kstovo industrial zone is located on the right bank of the Volga River about 30 kilometers south of downtown Nizhny Novgorod.
