Armed fugitive soldier eliminated in Lipetsk Region, say local authorities

Some Telegram channels earlier reported that measures to catch the fugitive soldier were also underway in Voronezh from where he reportedly headed for the Lipetsk Region

MOSCOW, January 18. /TASS/. Security forces have found and eliminated an armed fugitive soldier in the Lipetsk Region, the regional government said on its Telegram on Wednesday.

"Dmitry Perov who is on a wanted list for leaving his military unit without permission has been found and eliminated. The situation is under the control of security forces. There is no threat to residents. Investigative measures are underway," the statement reads.

As the administration of the Devitsky rural council of the Usmansky district in the Lipetsk Region told TASS, the fugitive soldier was expected to arrive at the village of Novouglyanka among possible places of his escape where security forces were already waiting for him. The operation to detain the fugitive required no evacuation of the local population, it said.
