China, US to maintain stability in trade, economic relations — Xi Jinping

Donald Trump’s current visit to China was a "historic and landmark event," Xi Jinping said

BEIJING, May 15. /TASS/. China and the United States have agreed to maintain stability in trade and economic relations and strengthen practical cooperation in various fields, the Chinese leader Xi Jinping said at a meeting with US President Donald Trump.

"We jointly defined a new positioning for constructive and strategically stable China-US relations, reached important consensus on maintaining stable economic and trade relations, expanding practical cooperation in various fields and properly addressing mutual concerns, and agreed to strengthen communication and coordination on international and regional issues," he was quoted as saying by Xinhua news agency.

Trump’s current visit to China was a "historic and landmark event," Xi Jinping said, adding that it once again demonstrated that peaceful coexistence between the two countries, their mutually beneficial cooperation based on respect, and the "search for the right path of interaction" meet the aspirations of the peoples of both countries and the expectations of the entire world.

Both sides should properly implement the consensus reached between the leaders of China and the United States, "appreciate the current favorable trend, which was not achieved easily, correctly determine the direction, remove obstacles, and promote the stable development of China-US relations," he noted.
