BEIJING, March 10. /TASS/. Authorities in the southern Chinese province of Hainan will work to launch new direct passenger flights to Russia and increase the frequency of flights, a member of the provincial delegation taking part in the sessions of the National People's Congress (China’s highest legislative body) and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (the highest consultative body) in Beijing, told TASS.
“As for plans to attract more Russian tourists, first, we will facilitate the launch of new direct flights and increase their frequency. Second, we will develop more engaging and thrilling tourism products targeted at Russians. This could particularly involve creating routes connecting Sanya to other cities such as Wuzhishan, Baoting, Lingshui, Danzhou, and Haikou in order to provide Russian tourists with more opportunities to get a deeper taste of Hainan. Third, we will continue to improve the quality of service for Russian tourists. For instance, we could encourage hotels to introduce a 24-hour check-in and out service to offer high-quality accommodation to the tourists who arrive in Hainan at night,” the delegation member pointed out.
According to provincial officials, Hainan received 505,300 Russian tourists in 2025, up 120.3% from 2024. “Russians made up 33.7% of all foreign tourists, with Russia ranking first among the countries whose citizens visited Hainan. Hainan has so far opened direct flights from Haikou and Sanya to ten destinations in Russia, namely Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Ufa, Novosibirsk, Khabarovsk, Krasnoyarsk, Vladivostok, Ulan-Ude, and Yekaterinburg. The weekly number of flights exceeds 20,” the delegation specified.
The authorities have set the task of turning Hainan into a major international center of tourism and consumption by 2035. In order to achieve this goal, the province is actively working to promote international projects, boost cooperation with global platforms and tour operators, and create new tourism products and services.
