China’s oil imports from Russia down 12.6% in January-February to 15.47 mln tons

According to data provided by the General Administration of Customs, China’s purchases of oil from other counties slipped by 1.9% in 2024 to 553.41 mln tons

BEIJING, March 20. /TASS/. China’s imports of Russian oil fell by 12.6% in January-February year-on-year to 15.47 mln tons, according to figures released by the General Administration of Customs of China.

In value terms oil supplies from Russia totaled $8.36 bln in the reporting period, down by 17.5%, according to updated figures provided by the service. Russia is still the largest oil supplier to the People’s Republic of China followed by Saudi Arabia, which sold 11.65 mln tons of oil to China in the first two months of this year, down by 13.5%, Iraq (10.3 mln tons), Malaysia (9.87 mln tons), and Oman (6.06 mln tons).

According to data provided by the General Administration of Customs, China’s purchases of oil from other counties slipped by 1.9% in 2024 to 553.41 mln tons. That said, imports from Russia edged up by 1.3% in the same period to 108.47 mln tons.
