US Postal Service suspends inbound parcels from China — newspaper

It was not immediately clear if the move was related to Beijing’s counter-tariffs in response to those imposed on Chinese products by the US President Donald Trump’s administration, SCMP said

HONG KONG, February 5. /TASS/. The US Postal Service has temporarily suspended inbound parcels from China with no explanation given, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) newspaper wrote.

The flow of letters and large envelopes was not affected, according to the publication.

It was not immediately clear if the move was related to Beijing’s counter-tariffs in response to those imposed on Chinese products by the US President Donald Trump’s administration, SCMP said.

Earlier, Trump imposed a 25% tariff on imports from Mexico and Canada (10% on Canadian energy), and a 10% additional tariff on China. In response, China’s State Council issued a decree imposing tariffs of 10% on import of US oil, and 15% on coal and LNG from the US from February 10. Moreover, a 10% tariff will be imposed on American large-displacement vehicles, pickup trucks, and agricultural machinery.
