First experimental train for high-speed railway to be supplied in 2026 - 2027

Starting from 2028 to 2030 about 30 high-speed trains will be supplied for the project

MOSCOW, December 24. /TASS/. The first experimental train for the Moscow - St. Petersburg high-speed railway (HSR) will be supplied at the turn of 2026 - early 2027, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov said.

"We are to provide for the delivery of the first experimental train for Russian Railways in late 2026 - early 2027, and, starting from 2028 to 2030, to supply about 30 high-speed trains for the Moscow - St. Petersburg high-speed railway," the official said.

Efforts to create the train are underway for several years thus far, Manturov noted. "The design bureau and the company [Sinara - TASS] have already made significant progress. We expect the design will be supported and implemented in time," he said.

The government supports the project, Manturov stressed. "We are providing the government support to it as part of the integrated investment project. The total cost of this project will be about 40 bln rubles ($400.4 mln), and the government will definitely back it as regards the compensation and interest on loans, and R&D," he added.
