MOSCOW, December 13. /TASS/. Russian pork exports to China since the beginning of 2024 amounted to about 40,000 tons worth over $100 mln, Head of the federal center Agroexport Dmitry Krasnov said.
"We understand what the growth in pork exports is connected with - it is the opening of the Chinese market. A few years ago, we did not believe that such figures would be reached in the first year - the figure already reaches around 40,000 tons worth more than $100 mln," Krasnov said.
In September 2023, the Chinese side lifted the African swine fever restrictions imposed on Russia since 2008.
In late February, the Chinese competent authority certified three Russian companies for pork shipments from Russia to China. On March 7, Miratorg agro-industrial holding announced the shipment of the first batch of 27 tons of pork from Russia’s Belgorod region to China. On April 2, another Russian company sent three batches of pork by-products totaling 167.99 tons to China.
At the same time, exports of dairy products from Russia to China have grown by more than 60% since the beginning of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, Krasnov added.
"Exports of dairy products to China, including dry milk, have grown by more than 60%," Krasnov said.
In general, since the beginning of 2024, dairy exports from Russia in physical terms have grown by 9% to 186,000 tons, in value terms - by 20% to $374 mln, according to Krasnov’s presentation. In particular, the supply of cheeses and cottage cheese from Russia to China increased by 25%, milk and cream - by 40%, dry milk - by 32%.
