MOSCOW, December 10. /TASS/. The maritime navigation in 2024 in the Chukotka Autonomous Region is completed. The region served more than 100 ships that delivered about 800,000 tons of cargo, including fuel and food, the regional government told TASS.
"Over the 2024 navigation, fuel, food and non-food products, as well as general cargo were delivered in full. Delivered: 170,000 tons of petroleum products, 26,000 tons of food products, 374,000 tons of general cargo, or the total of about 800,000 tons of cargo," the government reported.
In the current navigation, fuel delivery to settlements on the Arctic coast having unequipped shores continues in harsh climatic conditions due to the complicated ice situation. The Northern Supplies of fuel will continue by land transport.
In April 2024, the law on Northern Supplies came into force. In 2025, a pilot project, featuring a single operator, will be implemented in the Chukotka Autonomous Region.
