Serbia discussing gas payment with Gazprom amid sanctions against Gazprombank

Serbia has not imposed any sanctions against Russia, Aleksandar Vulin said

RAS AL-KHAIMAH, December 6. /TASS/. Serbia does not rule out issues with payment for gas supplies from Russia after the US imposed sanctions against Gazprombank, though it is discussing the issue with Gazprom now, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin told reporters on the sidelines of the Verona Eurasian Economic Forum.

"Problems may arise. However, our delegation from the state company Srbijagas is discussing the agreement with Gazprom now. I cannot disclose the details but I know that we will do everything possible to pay for gas," he said.

Serbia has not imposed any sanctions against Russia, Vulin added. "This is our policy and the position of President [Aleksandar] Vucic," he noted.

At the end of November, the US Department of the Treasury slapped sanctions on Gazprombank, through which foreign payments for Russian gas and oil are made in particular. Experts interviewed by TASS said earlier that US sanctions could make foreign buyers of Russian gas and oil look for payment alternatives.
