Hungarian companies will continue to operate in Russia, says country's foreign minister

Peter Szijjarto also recalled that "economic cooperation between Hungary and Russia has a long and successful tradition"

BUDAPEST, April 11. /TASS/. Hungarian companies intend to continue operating in Russia in those industries that are not affected by sanctions, Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, who met in Budapest with the heads of national companies present on the Russian market.

"Last year, the volume of our exports to Russia exceeded $1 billion, and the presence of the largest Hungarian companies MOL, OTP and Richter in Russia should give other Hungarian companies a feeling of confidence," Szijjarto wrote on Facebook (banned in Russia, owned by the corporation Meta, recognized as extremist in Russia).

Szijjarto noted that Hungarian companies from the "pharmaceutical, food, water, medical, construction and agricultural sectors have expressed their intention" to continue this work, and "the government is providing them with all the support they need to do this."

He also recalled that "economic cooperation between Hungary and Russia has a long and successful tradition."

"A number of Hungarian companies are in great demand in Russia, and many Hungarian goods are in high demand on the Russian market," Szijjarto noted.

He explained that he held a meeting with the heads of national companies represented on the Russian market, "since the further development of Hungarian-Russian economic relations in areas not affected by sanctions is an important foreign economic task."
