MOSCOW, March 15. /TASS/. Wine production in Russia gained 30% year on year in January - February 2024 to 6.8 mln decaliters, the Agriculture Ministry said.
Still wine production soared by 31.2% to 4.3 mln decaliters. Sparkling (champagne) wine production moved up by 25.6% to 2.1 mln decaliters. Strong (liqueur) wine production surged by 40.1% to 242,700 decaliters.
The good grape harvest in 2023, provisionally estimated at more than 760,000 metric tons, contributed to high production in particular, the ministry noted. "Wine enjoys stable demand at the same time - its total sales gained more than 7% in 2023 against 2022," the ministry added.
