No coffee deficit expected in Russia — Association

Reasons of coffee price growth are natural and unrelated to the Ukrainian crisis

MOSCOW, May 4. /TASS/. Coffee will not disappear from shelves in Russian stores, despite difficulties with supplies, chief executive of the Association of tea and coffee producers Rusteacoffee Ramaz Chanturiya told TASS.

"There are no problems with access to the product because all the countries are friendly, have not introduced any sanctions," Chanturiya said. "Products will not disappear from stores. It will be available. No such concerns," he noted.

Reasons of coffee price growth are natural and unrelated to the Ukrainian crisis, the expert said. "The current situation, especially when the dollar rate changed a month ago, gave an impetus and therefore it appeared to many people that the price hike in stores is related to these events. However, this is not so. The price increase is associated above all with the growing cost of coffee beans last year," Chanturiya noted.

Product deliveries are definitely complicated because key routes of coffee deliveries to Russia were through European port hubs, the expert said. New delivery patterns are being worked out now and new chains are being developed with companies continue working for the Russian logistical direction. Domestic companies are also launching new delivery routes now, he added.
