EAEU not to move fully to payments in Russian rubles this year

The EEC considers it necessary to integrate national systems for transfer of financial messages in the Eurasian Economic Union, Spokeswoman of the Eurasian Economic Commission Iya Malkina informed

MINSK, April 6. /TASS/. The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) has no plans to abandon payments in dollars or euros and fully move to the Russian ruble this year, Spokeswoman of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Iya Malkina said on Wednesday.

"It is not planned [to move]. We are facing the task of expanding and encouraging the use of national currencies of member states in making payments within the framework of mutual trade," she was quoted as saying by the BelTA agency. This is one of the measures to improve the domestic stability of EAEU countries’ economies approved by the EEC Council, Malkina said, adding that there is progress in this area.

Moreover, the EEC considers it necessary to integrate national systems for transfer of financial messages in the Eurasian Economic Union, she said. "In the future we consider it necessary to form an integrated foreign currency market of the Union, to develop the payment infrastructure and integrate national systems for transfer of financial messages," Spokeswoman noted.
