"We support "Turkish Stream" and any other routes of Russian gas, as well as the participation of Russian energy companies in Greece, "he said stressed that energy is the most important area of bilateral cooperation between Russia and Greece in general.
The advisor to the Greek Prime Minister noted that the participation of Greece in the TurkStream project remains a relevant topic.
"This topic is always on the agenda," he stressed. Velanis recalled that during a visit to Moscow in December 2018, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras voiced support for the construction of a gas pipeline through Greece to Italy and other European countries.
The TurkStream project envisages the construction of a gas pipeline across the Black Sea to the European part of Turkey and farther to the border with Greece. Gas deliveries via the first stretch of the gas pipeline are meant to meet the requirements of the growing Turkish market, while the second stretch is planned to deliver gas to the countries of Southern and South-Eastern Europe.
