China lodges protest with US over provocations by warships, warplanes

Such actions caused serious harm to the mutual confidence between the armed forces of both countries, Chinese Defense Ministry Spokesman Wu Qian stressed

BEIJING, March 31. /TASS/. China’s government has lodged a protest with the US due to large-scale and frequent provocations on the part of US warships and warplanes, Chinese Defense Ministry Spokesman Wu Qian said at a regular briefing on Thursday.

"Over a long period of time, warplanes and warships of the US armed forces have been conducting frequent reconnaissance operations with regards to China, staging provocations, acts of intimidation and pressure," according to his statement published on the website of China’s Defense Ministry.

"China is voicing a resolute protest over this," he noted.

According to the military official, such actions "caused serious harm to the mutual confidence between the armed forces of both countries" and threaten the safety of troops.
