MOSCOW, October 31. /TASS/. Polish President Karol Nawrocki is holding an emergency meeting, following his return to Warsaw, with First President of the Supreme Court Zbigniew Kapinski and Bogdan Swieczkowski, who was previously reported to have been suspended from his duties as acting president of the Constitutional Court, the Onet news portal reports.

According to the news portal, Nawrocki met with the judges immediately after arriving at the presidential palace in Warsaw. The Polish leader decided to turn his plane around while en route to Senegal and return to the capital after Justice Minister Waldemar Zurek filed a motion to strip Swieczkowski of his immunity.

In recent weeks, opposition protests have been held outside the Constitutional Court over Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s decision to appoint Maciej Berek, a former minister in his government, as a judge on the court. On October 30, Zurek filed a motion to suspend Swieczkowski from his duties and strip him of his immunity. Swieczkowski was suspended from his duties for one month. Additional police forces were deployed to guard the court premises. Protesters attempted to break through the barriers surrounding the court.
