DUBAI, March 27. /TASS/. More than 180 children have been killed in the Gaza Strip since Israel resumed military operations on March 18, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East said.
"After the Israeli Forces resumed bombing across the Gaza Strip, hundreds have been reportedly killed, including more than 180 children reportedly killed in one single day. Bodies remain under the rubble of destroyed structures, and doctors describe how "many injured people have died in front of our eyes while we couldn’t treat them," the agency wrote on the X social media platform.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 830 people, including 322 children, 174 women and 58 elderly persons, have been killed since March 18, while another 1,787, among them 609 kids and 386 women, have suffered injuries. The enclave’s total death toll has reached 50,183 since the Palestinian-Israeli conflict escalated on October 7, 2023, and 113,282 people have been injured. About 40% of those killed are children.
On March 18, the Israeli military resumed military operations in Gaza, carrying out intensive strikes on the enclave. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office stated that the move was due to Hamas’s rejection of proposals put forward by mediators and US Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff. According to the Israeli authorities, the goal of the operation is to ensure the release of all hostages held in Gaza. Hamas, in turn, blamed Israel and the US for the resumption of military activities.
