South Korean president fails to show up for questioning for third time

According to legal proceedings, the third summons is the last one before the issuance of an arrest warrant

SEOUL, December 29. /TASS/. South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol has failed to show up for questioning in an insurrection case at the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) for the third time, the Yonhap news agency reports.

The meeting was scheduled at 10:00 a.m. local time (01:00 a.m. GMT).

According to legal proceedings, the third summons is the last one before the issuance of an arrest warrant. Previously, Yoon twice failed to show up for questioning at the CIO and once at the prosecutor’s office. Meanwhile, the Yonhap agency said earlier that the anti-corruption agency had slowed down proceedings because if the president was arrested, the investigation would need to be stepped up.
