Geopolitical shifts impact CSTO area of responsibility — Secretary General

MOSCOW, December 4. /TASS/. Geopolitical transformations and changes on the international stage strongly impact the situation in the area of responsibility of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov said during a press conference.

"The heads of state had a very engaged discussion on issues related to the military-political situation within the CSTO area of responsibility and potential development scenarios," he pointed out. "The geopolitical transformations and the changes that occur in the world naturally affect the situation in the CSTO area of responsibility."

In this context, the Secretary General emphasized that the decisions made and the documents signed during the CSTO Collective Security Council session "carry exceptional significance for security in the Eurasian space."

The CSTO Collective Security Council session took place in Astana on November 28. The key event was attended by the presidents of Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. Representatives of the Armenian authorities did not participate in the session.
