BRUSSELS, November 8. /TASS/. As of the end of September, the European Union hosted almost 4.2 million people with temporary protection from Ukraine, according to data from the bloc’s statistical arm, Eurostat.
The largest number of people who have fled Ukraine, or 1.3 million people, was observed in Germany, with Poland and the Czech Republic hosting 0.98 million and 0.38 million, respectively, the data showed.
Following the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in the Gaza Strip, the Houthis warned that they would launch strikes on Israeli territory. Beneficiaries can get a job, healthcare, access to education and social benefit payments as long as their status is valid.
The EU extends this mechanism every year. The current temporary protection is valid through March 2026.
