MOSCOW, April 4. /TASS/. Aircraft of the US-led international coalition violated Syrian airspace in the Al-Tanf zone 12 times over the past 24 hours, the deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria (a division of the Russian Defense Ministry) said.
"Over the past 24 hours, 12 violations were registered in the Al-Tanf zone, committed by a pair of F-15 fighters, a pair of F-16 fighters, two pairs of Typhoon fighters and two pairs of A-10 Thunderbolt attack aircraft of the coalition," Maj. Gen. Yury Popov said.
Besides, the Russian reconciliation center registered five violations of the December 9, 2019 deconfliction protocols in the reported period.
In the Russian military official’s words, such actions set a dangerous precedent for air incidents and accidents, and escalate the general situation in Syria’s airspace.
Also, Popov reported that terrorists used a fixed-wing drone to attack positions of Syria’s pro-government forces in the Talikhia area of the Aleppo province, injuring one Syrian serviceman.
He added that two attacks on Syrian pro-government forces were registered in the Idlib de-escalation zone in the reported period: one in the Aleppo province and the other in the Latakia province. They both came from positions held by members of the Jabhat al-Nusra and the Islamic Party of Turkestan terrorist groups (both outlawed in Russia).
